And without the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund (SCF), many truck drivers suffering from medical issues or injuries and financial uncertainty wouldn’t be able to get by, which is why we’re proud to put on the largest fundraising event for SCF every year when we Band Together at TA and Petro locations across the country.

This year, SCF’s Director of Philanthropy & Development Shannon Currier hit the road with Crete Carrier driver Craig Daniels to experience a week in the life of a driver, stopping at TA and Petro locations along the way to spread the word about the SCF and why we Band Together.

Shannon is a regular guest on Radio Nemo’s Tim Ridley Show on XM 146 and Craig is a regular listener and caller. Craig previously connected with Shannon on social media after learning they both lived in the Montgomery, Alabama area and shared mutual friends. After Craig heard Shannon mention she was interested in doing a ride along, he reached out to her to help make that wish a reality.

“I wanted to get Shannon and the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund more exposure,” Craig said. “A lot of drivers don’t listen to the radio to hear about SCF and what they are doing to support drivers. I was hoping to make this sort of a ‘cross country tour’ to bring awareness to the SCF and what they do, and also so drivers purchasing bands have a better understanding of what their $1 or $5 supports.”

Their weeklong journey started at the Petro in Shorter, Alabama on Monday, July 8, 2019 and ended at the TA in Meridian, Mississippi, with stops at Petro Atlanta, Georgia, Petro Shreveport, Louisiana and TA Terrell, Texas along the way.

“Since Craig and I had talked some and I knew the people at Nemo knew him already, we decided to go through his company, Crete Carrier,” Shannon said. “Craig reached out to Crete for their approval and they said yes, so we got the details in order and planned the date. We chose the month of July because one of SCF’s largest sponsors is TA and Petro and I wanted to promote Band Together while on the road.”

Shannon had never been in a semi-truck for more than a short period of time, so this ride along experience gave her a new perspective on some of the issues drivers face every day, like maintaining a healthy diet on the road. While it’s not always easy, she says it can be done. Shannon planned ahead by packing meals that she could keep in Craig’s cab refrigerator during the day, and found healthy meal choices from StayFit menus at TA and Petro locations along the way.

(Shannon visiting the StayFit fitness facility at Petro Shreveport, Louisiana)

“I have learned a lot being on the road,” Shannon said during her week on the road with Craig. “And I have had such a great time getting to meet drivers and TA and Petro employees to thank them in person for their support and to let them know the difference they make in drivers’ lives by promoting Band Together.”

(Shannon with truck service employee JK showing off his band at TA Meridian, Mississippi)

(Shannon with Assistant Manager Vonda at TA Meridian, Mississippi)

Thank you to Shannon Currier, Craig Daniels and Crete Carrier Corporation for making this trip possible and helping spread the word about this life saving cause and our Band Together campaign.
http://www.6ruoi.com/blog/post/shannon-currier-craig-daniels-band-together-for-trucker-fund http://www.6ruoi.com/blog/post/shannon-currier-craig-daniels-band-together-for-trucker-fund#comment http://www.6ruoi.com/blog/post.aspx?id=a20806ab-d434-4930-93e1-94960e8f385d 周一, 22 七月 2019 10:12:00 -0400 Corporate SCF St. Christopher Trucker Relief Fund StayFIT Band Together TA Truck Service http://www.6ruoi.com/blog/pingback.axd http://www.6ruoi.com/blog/post.aspx?id=a20806ab-d434-4930-93e1-94960e8f385d 0 http://www.6ruoi.com/blog/trackback.axd?id=a20806ab-d434-4930-93e1-94960e8f385d http://www.6ruoi.com/blog/post/shannon-currier-craig-daniels-band-together-for-trucker-fund#comment http://www.6ruoi.com/blog/syndication.axd?post=a20806ab-d434-4930-93e1-94960e8f385d We Updated the TruckSmart Mobile App with UltraONE Members in Mind

We’ve made updates to our TruckSmart mobile app to make it work better, harder and smarter for UltraONE members. Now with features like reserving and paying for showers and parking right from the app, and the ability to search for a TA, Petro Stopping Centers and TA Express location by amenity, including fuel type and truck service needs, TruckSmart makes life easier on the road.

We've updated the TruckSmart app with drivers, and a better user experience, in mind. The new intuitive design will help drivers easily find what they’re looking for, and allow them to move effortlessly through the app, quickly getting to the features they want. The simple, secure sign-in and the ability to safely and securely link a credit card to conveniently pay from the app gives them the ability to confidently use TruckSmart knowing their information is protected.

More than anything, TruckSmart helps them get what they want when they want it. Search for a TA, Petro, or TA Express location by highway they’re driving or amenity they need. Craving a Skillet Steak Burger from our Iron Skillet restaurant? Use the app to search for a location with an Iron Skillet or any of our full-serve or quick-serve dining options. Need specialized fuel, a specific TA Truck Service location, a designated pet area or a place to work out? UltraONE members can search TruckSmart by the service they want and the app provides the TA, Petro or TA Express location that will work for them.

The app now also gives UltraONE members information right at their fingertips. The TruckSmart app gives UltraONE members a place to make account updates, and the app delivers real-time, member-specific information. Not only can members track their points and UltraCredits in the app, they can also see their current month Gear level, as well as their gallon balance towards next Gear. Members have an up-to-date tracker of gallons they need to fuel to reach the next Gear (and earn more points!). In addition, UltraONE members can get in queue at TA Truck Service locations all from within the TruckSmart app.

The app also now ensures they can arrive at a TA, Petro or TA Express location with confidence knowing their time is well spent getting the service they need. TruckSmart provides real-time location updates, including weather and construction updates, which might impact service at a specific location. And now with TruckSmart, help is there when they need it. UltraONE members can contact RoadSquad Connect emergency breakdown service from right from the app.

We heard the feedback and updated the app with professional drivers in mind.

Don’t have the app? Citizen Driver recognizes some of the remarkable men and women in the trucking industry for their dedication to citizenship, community involvement, health and wellness, leadership and safety. This year, we’re proud to honor team drivers Kenn and Beth Zelten as Citizen Drivers.

Kenn and Beth first hit it off at a race track in 1988, where he was a racer and she was a track photographer. Soon after, they decided to buy their first truck together, and in 1989 they hit the road. 30 years and 10 trucks later, Kenn and Beth have proven they represent what it means to be Citizen Drivers. From mentoring other drivers to receiving several safety awards, the Zeltens lead by example and constantly offer a helping hand to those who need it.

The Zeltens have shown they’re serious about safety after earning nearly two million accident free miles. Landstar has recognized the Zeltens with their annual safety award all three years they’ve been with the company, and Mark Gillette, Director of Landstar Transportation Logistics, agrees that this duo exemplifies Citizen Driver qualities.

“I believe the Zeltens fit the definition of citizens we want to be at the forefront of our industry,” Gillette said.”

In 2013 and 2014, Kenn and Beth received the President’s Safe Driver Club Award for accident and violation free driving, which was sponsored by the Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association. The pair has also received four FedEx Custom Critical Four Star Awards, which acknowledge the top 40 independent contractors in the FedEx fleet who demonstrate a high standard of customer service, safety and efficiency.

They’re also committed to spreading their knowledge with other drivers and the general public. They regularly organize and take part in “No Zone” training sessions in Rockford and Chicago, Illinois and parts of Canada, where they teach high school students in particular how to drive safely in and around large trucks.

In 2018 they were asked to bring their green Volvo truck, nicknamed Kermit, to the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Brake Training Symposium, where it was used by CVSA instructors to educate attendees on conducting proper brake inspections, maintenance and safety.

The Zelten’s truck is green in more ways than one. In addition to the tractor’s light green exterior covered in water, bird and butterfly imagery, Kermit is equipped with adaptive loading technology, can run at lower RPM to increase fuel economy and even has a filter system that often puts out cleaner air than it takes in. Everything about Kermit is designed to help reduce the Zelten’s carbon footprint, including the solar panels they had installed to help combat load drain on the batteries.

But Kermit isn’t the only way the Zeltens help support and take care of the environment. They also support organizations that share their same love of nature, such as the Audubon Society of Michigan, Ducks Unlimited and Bat Conservation International.

As lifetime members of the Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA) and members of Women in Trucking, Kenn and Beth have an enduring history of getting involved to help make a difference in the trucking community. Whether it’s through the Honor Fleet for Wreaths Across America, Trucker Buddy International, Truckers Against Trafficking or Women in Trucking, this team of drivers has consistently and happily sacrifies their free time to help others. They also contribute to worthwhile causes like the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund, The Salvation Army, Mission of Hope and Onramp to Health.

Kenn and Beth continuously leave a positive impact on everyone they meet, whether in the trucking industry or not. From helping educate existing and future professional drivers to reducing their carbon footprint, the level of dedication and excellence this team exudes is something all drivers should strive to reach.

It was our honor to dedicate the Chicago North TA Travel Center in Kenn & Beth Zelten's name on June 7, 2019.

If you know a stand-out driver or team of drivers like the Zeltens, you can nominate them for the next group of Citizen Drivers! Visit the Citizen Driver website after June 1 to submit your nomination.
http://www.6ruoi.com/blog/post/citizen-driver-honorees-2019-zeltens http://www.6ruoi.com/blog/post/citizen-driver-honorees-2019-zeltens#comment http://www.6ruoi.com/blog/post.aspx?id=1d47adb9-709e-4da8-a9fc-4d4e39ccfd2c 周三, 12 六月 2019 15:25:00 -0400 Corporate Citizen Driver TA Truck Service http://www.6ruoi.com/blog/pingback.axd http://www.6ruoi.com/blog/post.aspx?id=1d47adb9-709e-4da8-a9fc-4d4e39ccfd2c 0 http://www.6ruoi.com/blog/trackback.axd?id=1d47adb9-709e-4da8-a9fc-4d4e39ccfd2c http://www.6ruoi.com/blog/post/citizen-driver-honorees-2019-zeltens#comment http://www.6ruoi.com/blog/syndication.axd?post=1d47adb9-709e-4da8-a9fc-4d4e39ccfd2c 777 ӰӺݺ
